Three way tie at top of Sligo Handball league table

Three way tie at top of Sligo Handball league table

There is a 3 way leadership at the top of the Sligo Handball team league table after round 3 of fixtures. Castleconnor B maintained their 100% record following their 83-40 victory over Collooney on Sunday. St. Mary’s also have full points from their 2 outings & joining them is Drumcliffe who beat Sligo I.T.on Wednesday evening last by 84-38.

Drumcliffe dft Sligo I.T. 84-38
Colin Slevin & Bill Carney (Drumcliffe) bt Aoife McDonagh & Niall Hunt (Sligo I.T.) 21-4, 21-10.
Ken Cunningham & Eamon Bellew (Drumcliffe) bt Amy Corrigan & Ciara McLoughlin (Sligo I.T.) 21-19, 21-9.

Drumcliff’s Colin Slevin & Bill Carney built up 30 point advantage at the end of the 1st doubles game and that was the platform for Drumcliffe as they finished strongly overall over a Sligo I.T. side that are still pointless after round 3.

Castleconnor B dft Collooney 83-40
Mark Murphy & Larry Jones (Castleconnor) dft Stanely Harte Snr & Michael Bruen (Collooney) 21-10, 2-9
Oisin Quinn & Joe Gorman (Castleconnor) dft Stanley Harte Jnr & Patrick Fox ( Collooney) 21-9, 21-20

Collooney lined out with father & son Stanley Harte Snr & Jnr but they could not stop a rampant Castleconnor side that are on top of the league table with two wins out of two. Castleconnor’s Mark Murphy gave a very solid performance in the 1st game alongside doubles partner Larry Jones. The Castleconnor men were never headed and dominated from start to finish. The duo helped Castleconnor into a 30 point advantage going into the last doubles. Even though Collooney’s Stanley Harte Jnr & Patrick Fox tried hard in their contest with Castleconnor’s Oisin Quinn & Joe Gorman. Castleconnor ran out deserving winners in the end.
